She is famous for her role in Coming to America, the romantic comedy that became an international box-office hit. Headley also has appeared in the films The Preacher's Wife (1996) and Johnson Family Vacation (2004). Headley played Detective Mimi Reed on ABC's daytime soap opera All My Children from 1991-1994. As lead actress, she appeared in the Fox short-lived drama series 413 Hope St. (1997-1998) and was awarded the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding actor in a Drama Series nomination. From 2014 to 2016 Headley was a villain in the role of Jennifer Sallison in the Oprah Winfrey Network primetime soap series The Haves and the Have Nots.
