Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media analyst for more than twenty years. She is well-known as a public speech writer. Feminist Frequency is a web site that hosts videos and commentaries looking at the portrayals of women in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic, blogger and award-winning feminist for over 10 years. Feminist Frequency is an educational site for non-profit organizations that explores the representations of females in the popular media narratives. She's committed to removing stereotypes of women as they are depicted in pop media. Furthermore she has a mission to increase the awareness of harassment on social media targeted at women and the marginalized communities of people. Sarkeesian holds a York University master's in social, political and philosophical thought. Alongside being a popular public speaker she has made presentations at TEDxWomen XOXO Conference and United Nations Broadband Working Group. While a student at university, Sarkeesian became interested in the issues surrounding gender and rights for women from a young age. The site was created by a woman in her early 20s with a dream to develop an online series that would examine how gender is represented in games. In the end, she ended up being the target of cyber-bullying. However, the attacks did not dissuade her. The experience only strengthened her as a journalist who is feminist. She has won numerous awards in recognition of her many notable contributions to the field of feministism. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award award-winning media journalist.
