Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Her grandfather, her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer who was also one of the first Roberts to arrive in Atlanta. Early on, her father was interested in theatre. When he was a college student at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he was a part of numerous performances. After he enlisted in the Air force and was spotted with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. Eric Anthony was their first born. The couple got married in the year 1957. In 1957 the couple left the Air Force and Walter enrolled in Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter worked with Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. The family moved in 1960 and moved to Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou produced a Saturday matinee local TV show that was aimed at children, known as Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964, a project they self-financed. The following year, they started The Actors and Writers Workshop which ran for six years. In the meantime, they were blessed with two additional kids Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in the year 1965 as well as Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
